nscriv I love Chad, love Black Mold, love Dog Day so this collabo seemed like a dream come true. And it is, but it wasn't at first.

Upon first listen, there were some standout moments but it mostly just sounded like a couple of guys messing around with synths and samplers. Which is essentially what it is, but it requires more listening to really get at the heart of what this thing is. After the second consecutive play, it clicked. Now, I've been listening to it on repeat for most of the day. It's hypnotic, abrasive but not too abrasive, atmospheric, droney but also propulsive and catchy all at once. It's a remarkable and extremely listenable exploration of both organic and synthesized sound. It's great. Favorite track: Part II.

F. van der Zwaag Man! I only listened this one like… two times… gee…! But the moment I knew about this tape I needed to get my hands on it! So, it's magic, I know that for sure! I just have to listen to it some more to crystallize a real opinion. Favorite track: Part II.

Pop minds Seth Smith and Chad VanGaalen have created an experimental techno album. The futuristic motifs, beat mutilation, and waves of dark atmosphere all play a part in the story being told. We hear processed baby babbling, hallucinatory machines exploding through sonic space, and digitized minds transcending into frequency. Unlike much in a genre that is supposed to be exploratory, this music truly does sound experimental (whatever that may mean these days). Even the album’s creation process, which took place blind inside a Dropbox folder, speaks to new ways of doing things. But SEED OF DORZON possesses an extra sensibility unique to VanGaalen and Smith. These gentlemen cannot help but apply their songcraft. So hidden deep within these pounding cacophonies of noise, tender melody and soft sentiment are born free to whisper.
